The wheels of the 118th Congress have been turning slowly since the initial circus to elect a speaker. Kevin McCarthy finally prevailed after 15 rounds—the most protracted vote since the Civil War.
The leaders of House committees, ratios of Republicans to Democrats on committees, and actual committee members are still being sorted out. Resolution is expected later this week.
The House education committee will be headed by Virginia Foxx (R-NC), ranking member for the last several years. Bobby Scott (D-VA) will remain the top Democrat. The complete roster is a work in progress.
Congressional activity is likely to ramp up later this month. As we set priorities, we’d love to hear from you—what matters and what you’d like to see happen.
