President Biden released his FY2025 budget on March 11, the third anniversary of the American Rescue Plan Act, the single largest investment in public education in U.S. history.
“Now, through this budget, he again gives us a window into his values and continues to demonstrate that he is the most pro-public education president in modern history,” said NEA President Becky Pringle.
Meanwhile, much of the FY2024 budget remains in limbo. Funding for more than half the U.S. government, including the Department of Education, expires on Friday at midnight. Congress must act before midnight or part of the government will shut down.
The resignation of Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) also takes effect on Friday. When he leaves, the GOP will control the House 218-213 (four seats are vacant). That means Speaker Mike Johnson can afford to lose just two Republicans in party-line votes when all members are present.
Tell Congress what you think!
