This week, nearly 7,000 educators are gathering in Philadelphia for NEA’s annual meeting and representative assembly. It is a fitting venue for the world’s largest democratic, deliberative body—by educators, for educators.
Philadelphia is where our nation’s founders drafted, debated, and signed the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Among them was Benjamin Franklin, the founder and first president of the University of Pennsylvania—originally located near Independence Hall, now in West Philadelphia.
Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”—a sentiment shared by the NEA members gathering in Philadelphia this week.
Tell Congress what you think!
